The joint conference of the Association for Literary and Linguistic Computing (ALLC) and the Association for Computers and
the Humanities (ACH) invites papers and
contributions in all areas related to humanities computing and the application of advanced information technologies in
humanities subjects, including linguistics, literature, cultural and historical studies, translation studies, media studies
and digital collections. Papers on research and on teaching are both of interest. Papers may report on new theoretical and
methodological advances in any relevant field. Second, within this context, the conference is expected to address the
increased challenges of multilingualism, an issue manifested by the further enlargement of Europe and the process of
integration of nations worldwide. We thus also encourage papers related to the linguistic and cultural issues of
multilingual communities.
We welcome presentations in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Swedish.

We invite submissions for the Winter 2004 issue of Reconstruction that explore
the place of technology in history. Why is technology important for
thinking not just about the present but about the past? How has technology
changed our very ideas about history? About the writing of history?
"Technology and Historiography" will be published 21 January
2004. Submissions should be received no later than 13 October 2003 for
consideration. This issue is guest-edited by Haidee Wasson, McKnight
Land-Grant Professor of Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature at the
University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
All submissions and submission queries should be sent to
submissions@reconstruction.ws.

EnterText, an interactive interdisciplinary e-journal for
cultural and historical studies and creative work, seeks submissions for a special issue on animation.
This special issue on animation focuses on, but is by no means
limited to, the following topics:
- Historical and contextual studies of specific animators or
animated films, traditions, or styles
- Explorations of how new technologies are changing our
perception of animation as a distinct object or set of practices
- The convergence between live action and animated forms
- Animation and spectatorship
- Critical reflection by animation practitioners on their own
work, or the work of others (essays may be illustrated by animation
clips or still images, so there is an opportunity for contributors to
explore "annotated" work)
Deadline for submissions: 1 November 2003.
For more information about EnterText, notes for contributors, and
previous editions, go to <http://www.brunel.ac.uk/faculty/arts/EnterText/>.
All articles and creative work may be sent by email to entertext@brunel.ac.uk.

This three-day event, slated to coincide with the next Transit of Venus (8 June 2004), will provide a forum for wide-ranging
engagement with the totality of Pynchon's work to date.

Selected conference proceedings will be published as a special issue of Pynchon Notes.
