Submissions are invited for the Seventh Annual Conference of The Space
Between: Literature and Culture, 1914-1945, at McGill University, Montreal,
Quebec, Canada, 27-29 May 2005.
This interdisciplinary conference will explore the manifestations, effects,
and representations of the new technologies of the 1914-1945 period.
Considering this distinct period in twentieth-century history will offer
crucial perspectives and insights on the significance of visual and
auditory technologies, designed and built technologies, technologies of the
body, technologies of flight, speed, and simultaneity, technologies of
production, and technologies of social engineering. We are particularly
interested in exploring the cultural relationships that emerge as the roles
of the media and technology shape each other in our Space Between.
Please send 300-word abstracts or 10-page double-spaced 12 pt-font papers
by 15 January 2005 to
robin.feenstra@mail.mcgill.ca.
E-mail submissions are preferred, but hard-copy proposals may be sent to:
Robin Feenstra, Dept. of English, McGill University, Arts Building, 853
Sherbrooke Street West, Montreal, Quebec, Canada H3A 2T6.
